Sending an entry from my bed in the middle of the night. Not an easy task.
I wonder what technology will bring in the 22nd century. Will we be uning qwerty keyboards still? Or will we be using touch plates on which a swipe of the finger enters a whole phrase.
My place on the learning curve tonight... 3 am.. just a little higher. Not ready to do this nightly... to capture those creative night thoughts that come when we are rested or even come in dreams.
(In bed I have no lap for my laptop, Have to balance it on my knees and me on the edge of the bed. Not the most creative posture I know)
Back to sleep. I will read your comments in the morning.
LOL you did a good job:) maybe you could get a table for the laptop next to the bed? (one that moves up and down)

Always the curious one!! Yes, technology has come a long way from the massive typewriters of the early 20th century... I can't even imagine typing something with that balanced on my knees! LOL

I SAW A LAP TRAY OR MAYBE CALLED A LAP DESK IN OUR GIFT SHOP AT WORK IT LOOKED LIKE IT WOULD BE SO HANDY. IT WAS LIGHT AND NOT VERY EXPENSIVE EVEN IN A HOTEL GIFT SHOP. TRY FINDING ONE IT WOULD BE JUST THE THING FOR YOU AND YOUR LAP TOP.
ReplyDeleteI bet we will be speaking entries that will be instantly communicated to someone's mini laptop that doesn't require a lap to use it.
ReplyDeletethankfully by the 22nd century I'll be home
betty
I suspect it won't be a question of keyboards being used, but of direct brain-to-brain interface via satellite from anywhere on the globe to anywhere else. The down side will be the opportunities for misuse. See Spider Robinson's book MINDKILLER for a particularly graphic example.
ReplyDelete(Note: MINDKILLER was reissued in March 1996, as the first half of the Baen paperback compendium DEATHKILLER (the other half being a related 1987 novel, TIME PRESSURE). DEATHKILLER is still in print.)
I use a "breakfast in bed" kind of table I bought at Target for about $20. Pick up that and a mouse for the laptop and youll be in business! Ginger
ReplyDeleteCreative guy that you are, I think you'll figure out a way to manouvre this task more easily. My laptop is attached to a dock with a much larger monitor due to my vision. I have a wireless mouse. The touchpad drove me nuts. Almost impossible to play Mahjongg with the touchpad. Wish I could get up at night to do things like you, but I have to have lots of help, so it's out of the question for me.
