Mavarin muses about memory. Makes me wonder why all that stuff stays in there, long after it is useless. Why do we hum "Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer weiner" when obviously we do not.
My very educated Mother just sat upon nine pillows. One thing to remember it and another to know what it was for. I wonder.
True vigins make dull companions will set your boat straight somehow. St. Wapniacl will tell you the members of President Roosevelt's cabinet. Quickly we educate rapid typists, yet, understand, I order practice will help you type.
My phone number in 1937 was 935-M. M meant two rings, but one ring was for somebody else on the party line. You could listen in, but they were a pretty dull family so you didn't bother, often. In 1923 I lived at 612 Alpine Drive in Beverly Hills though it was not known as 90210.
My mind is filled with such stuff. No wonder I once forgot my Grandson's name.
Sorry, Marshall, I hope you understand.

I knew the older we got, the wiser we were. But My Grandma forgets my name sometimes ( she is 73 and I am 24) Now I know why. It is not because they are losing their memory it is just the opposite. The only problem is, when they pushed a button for a certain folder, their computer just pulled up the wrong one. LOL The computer will get it right if they keep trying. Just never give up. LOL. I love your entry but I didnt learn about pillows I learned it was, "My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas" It is amazing how things change thru the generations and that is why I love visiting my Grandparents. I Love all older people (60 +) They have lots of stuff for us youngins to learn from. Take Care sorry about the long comment. Jen
My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas (see comment below) Pizzas Pillows...but what is it FOR? Chuck.
my theory is by the time you get to your age you has so much wisdom crammed in your head there is no room for anymore....:-)

Wisdom, I call it all wisdom. :) As we age there is a story. A unique story about ourselves. All those thoughts are attached to memories. I bet you have the best stories to share. I knew phone numbers were different back in the day, but I didn't know they were 3 numbers with an M for two rings.

ROY G. BIV (the rainbow), My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pickles (The planets in order in our solar system), The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog (is supposed to help you type.) I remember all kinds of crazy stuff like that also from childhood. I sing alot of jingles from TV shows that others don't remember. My first and only phone number growing up until I left was 494-9885. I am impressed by your memory, Chuck! These was a very, very interesting entry!! I hope my memory remains as good as yours. Gee, I forget all kinds of things nowadays. Constantly!
Thanks for telling me what My Very educated mother meant. (See comment below) My favorite mnemonic is one I made up myself to help me remember the Zodiac.
A pure attempt to give comfort leaves virgins loving sex, says Charlie.
Aquarius Picies Aries Taurus Gemini Cancer Leo Virgo Libra Scorpio Sagitarius Capricorn
Now I need mnemonics to remind me how to spell 'em.
Clyde Tombaugh, discoverer of Pluto in 1931, said not long before he died, "The astronomical society is just waiting for me to die before they down grade Pluto from planet to asteroid." And it's true, there are efforts to remove Pluto (Pickles) from the pantheon. However, discoveries of planets ten and eleven my forestall that effort. My very educated mother may soon have to serve us something different.
My very educated mother will have to serve us PICKLED HERRING ON TOASTED PETTIFORS someday!
Loved it!
Kate (P.S....how come YOU never taught ME those things!)
Ah, yes. There is an Oscar Meyer jingle lurking in millions of brains, but how many of us can spell the name of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court? Is the jingle that much more important than the highest court in the land?
Incidentally, I have TWO Oscar Meyer jingles in my head. The other one starts, "My bologna has a first name...!"

How funny.....I grew up on an Alpine Drive!!!!! But in TN!
You know there isn't a song about OSCAR MAYER "SALAMI". But! my son who really loves SALAMI came up with one. I notice they didn't have one when we saw a commercial of bologna. He ask me what was the salami song. I told him it wasn't one. He was surprise and told me he would come up with one and he did, actually 2. Heres one for u all. "MY BROTHER EATING ALL THE SALAMI HE CAN EAT, EATING ALL THE SALAMI UP FROM ME".
