Here are the last lines of some songs. Can you tell the name of the song from its last line? The answer is printed in invisible ink right after the last line. Just drag your cursor over the line to see it.
I know... this is a rerun, but I like it too much to let it lie fallow.
The home of the brave STAR SPANGLED BANNER
From sea to shining sea AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL
His truth is marching on BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC
That I overlooked before FOUR CLEAF CLOVER
Let freedom ring AMERICA
And the band played on STRAWBERRY BLOND
My home sweet home GOD BLESS AMERICA
I owe my soul to the company store SIXTEEN TONS
Clippoty Clopping to the top MULE TRAIN.
With my banjo on my knee OH SUSANA
So I lost my Clementine CLEMENTINE
We will kill the old red rooster when she comes SHELL BE COMING ROUND THE MOUNTAIN
Ours will still be hot FRIENDSHIP
Betrayed by a maid in her teens DARING YOUNG MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE

Aww Chuck, this is beautiful, know it but couldn't remember all the words right now. It's late, I can't sleep, because I am missing my little grandkid Holly so much. Hubby has been very ill mentally and I don't see family then. They stay away. Just need to hold that little kid in my arms and hear her say nanny I love you. It's been a long 4 weeks, since I saw her last. She goes to school only 3 miles away. We are and always have been very special to each other. Sorry to cart on like this, but those words made me sad. Hope life is treating you kind, my friend.

I was reallyu surprised at how many I actually knew, thought I had to sing the last line a few times, until I could find another line or two and then the whole song came back. Margo
I got almost all of them, but it took a very long time, because, of course, I had to sing every single song all the way through. I love lists like this - a trek down memory lane.
You got two wrong, though.
Down in the valley [the valley so low, hang your head over] hear the wind blow is "Down in the Valley", not "Tom Dooley". The last line of "Tom Dooley" is Poor boy you're bound to die.
I owe my soul to the company store is "Sixteen Tons" (Tennessee Earnie Ford), not "Mule Train". The last line of Mule Train is Soon they're gonna reach the top, clippity clop clippity clop.

Oops, found another. "So If she’s the one, don’t let her run away" is not the last line of "I WANT A GIRL JUST LIKE THE GIRL". It's from Pat Boone's "April Love". The last line of "I Want a Girl" is "I want a girl just like the girl that married dear old Dad."
(Yeah, I'm still singing here. AOL is so slow tonight that's all I can do.)

You know, this brings back memories of singing with my mom and grandmother. I sang many of these to my kids as well. a few years back, my daughter asked me to teach her a couple to sing to her kids. Ahhhh. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Blessings, Penny
Learning about you day by day is from the song "Getting to Know You" from the KING and I - the other one, well, my memory isn't that good anymore. Penny
