Remember my Great great great grandmother Alida Wyncoop? We have seen her 150 year old charcoal on parchment portrait. She appears to be about sixty years old.
Now from my Cousin we have a photo portrait, taken in 1890 on her 90th birthday. She is thirty years older, but looking as proud and stern as ever. Alas, the little half-smile she wore at age sixty is missing.

As I was looking at great great great grandmother, I swear she winked at me. Opitical illusion, no doubt. Yet...
1990? Do you mean 1890?
It's amazing that a charcoal portrait lasted so long in such good shape. Someone took care of it.

Thanks for sharing chuck , Only if these pictures can talk ?
Is that 1890 Chuck? I love the picture, she has a sweet little face and I love her clothes. Hugs. Terry x
Pictures do her proud, Chuck.
Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmn she looks old.
I bet she has autographed Scipture copy somewhere.
jk, Mr. Ferris!
I wrote the following before I saw that Chuck Ferris passed away. My condolences. Possibly somebody else in the family can respond:
You don't know me, but we might be related. I'm an unofficial family historian, which includes the Ferris line. Since you're a Ferris, I'm pretty sure we're related.
I'm a direct descendant of Alida Wynkoop. My connection to her is:
Alida Wynkoop and James Ferris --> Charles Edward Ferris --> Clara Louise Ferris --> Grandpa Graeme Conlee Smith, which makes Alida my great-great-great grandmother. It sounds to me like we're possibly second or third cousins once removed. Possibly?
I LOVE the picture from when she was 90. That's the first picture I've seen of her, so it was like staring at a ghost. My records show that she was born in 1801, so the picture would be c. 1890. The link to the pic from her sixties is broken, though. Do you still have it?
I'd love to compare notes! Could you email me at doug at geeksgoingglobal dot com or call me at 650 - 619 - 7629.
