I amuse myself by asking odd questions and then working them out.
For instance, I asked myself: The sun is 93 million miles away from Earth. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second. Expressed in hours, how long does it take light from the sun to reach the Earth?
I will work it out and post the answer I get in comments below. However, I have to go breakfast, and knowing the lack of speed with which I work, it may not be the first comment. Post yours if you want to play along.

12 hours half the earth is in sunshine while the other half is in dark due to the rotation of the earth!

Hi Chuck the answer is 51.66hours. Enjoyed doing that. Love Joan.

186,000 mi per sec= 186,000 x 60 sec per min x 60 min per hr= 669,600,000 mi per hr.
93,000,000 miles / 669,600,000 mi per hr = .1389 hours

I followed a protocol similar to Silk's (Jaykolb in comment #7) but I got a different speed in miles per hour. Then I divided that speed into 93 million and I got .17 hours. However, I am willing to accept Silk's answer because I did mine on the back of a placemat with a pencil, and I am not willing to invent more time to double check. Thanks folks. (Oh, 51 hours was WAY off.)
Definitely a guy question. Hurts my head just to read the question-LOL.
I'm glad someone figured it out. I didn't want to have to think about it!!

YOU KNOW SOMETHING CHUCK?? YOU ARE ONE OF THE SMARTEST PEOPLE THAT I HAVE EVER KNOWN!
LOVE YA,
CARLENE
Well, the answer is 8 minutes. So, 8/60=0.13 hours. However, I didn't work that answer out, I just remember learning it so many years ago, so props to the commenter who actually did the math.
