Where I Belong

It is three am, and I am where I belong  At the keyboard.

Or at least I have begun to think that is where  belong. I remember shutting off the television at 11:30, part way through a Law and Order. I will never know how it came out.  What happened to the juvenile offender?  I left him in an adult jail, but that didn't seem right, and it was too late to stay up to find out what was going to happen to him.

I slept three hours, but then grew restless.  I could go out and view the full moon.  It is no doubt beautiful right now. It is Easter morning.  I remember sunrise service we once went to in the mountains.  That night. too, a group of us stayed up late, then drove to the San Gabriel Mountains to greet the sunrise and hold a brief outdoor service.  (Then we drove home and went to bed.)

The thing that I reflect on this morning, is that I am anywhere.  A few weeks ago, I was slowly bleeding to death, though I did not know it.  Doctors using skills and instruments unknown when I was born, explored my insides, removed part of my gut, sewed the ends together, and and got me back on my feet... well, back in my wheelchair. That's a miracle.

And why?  So I could write Dribble?  There must be more than that.  My dozen readers, as loyal as they are, don't really need me. I am glad they follow my adventures shopping, reminiscing, and musing the night away, but there must be a reason for my being here.

There must be some purpose for my, and all of us, being here, for our lives.

Meanwhile, just being alive is pretty wonderful.

   Now, back to bed.

Chuck this time last year my Ken was going through what you did. In 2001 he suffered a ruptured aortic aneurysm. Thank God that he is still around. Just enjoy your time to be here. We do need you around, where else would we read such funny humerous entry's to entertain us. The people in the home need you to keep some fun going on even if they don't show it. Keep on with that music during your exercises. Helen

I have no idea about the meaning of life.  I do know that everything we do has an impact on other people.   Opening a door for someone can reaffirm their faith that politeness is not dead.   A funny story shared can bring a smile to someone that needed a smile that day.  A blog about gardening, cooking or home improvement even, can make someone take a look around and give them much needed inspiration.  And as we have seen many times here, sharing tough times can help others weather theirs.

It doesn't take a huge event to mean something.  Life is found in the little details.  ~Sie

You never know that what you write could be the best thing that happens to someone out there in the world. Maybe they are to shy to let you know, or they might think, 'what's the purpose?' and feel that you don't need to know those things. Our journals are so personal, to a certain extent, but they do affect the lives of others.... perhaps in a small way....

MAYBE, that is the meaning of life.... at THIS point of your life..... I think it is different for different times of our life...

I was thinking about this today as I visited a friend who will probably live to turn 103 years old in May. I don't think she knows what a positive impact she makes on the lives of others. Nor do you know this about yourself. Believe me, you make a difference.

Yes I always wonder what the reason for me is too.... I guess we will never know but as long as we are here we are needed for something no matter how small it seems to us. I enjoy your dribble and think I need it too. Glad you are back on your feet so to speak

You never fail to make me smile.  Sometimes a "thinking smile", sometimes a "funny smile". Sometimes I just smile because you are here.

hugs,  Bethe

Here am I, number 12.

Somehow, I don't think I'm the only remaining reader.

I'm not going to be surprised if I don't discover life's meaning before I die -- though I'll be furious if I'm not brought up to speed fairly soon after that event.

Meanwhile, I'm about joy. It doesn't sound as selfish as other terms and still gives me a lot of leeway when it comes to refusing to take things too seriously.

But, to take things a bit seriously, I appreciate Easter because it seems to me that it's all about redemption. I'm hoping the notion that those who take advantage of opportunities to make amends for past transgressions are -- if not discovering their purpose -- rising to the occasion.

Anyway, Chuck. If you don't know what you're supposed to do, keep on doing what makes you happy and leaves you feeling proud of yourself.

BTW -- great (as always) to share real time and real space with you. Let's do it again soon.

Sometimes we just don't know the why untill we are on the other side of it.  But God knows and he does have a purpose for each of us, we never know who we touch each day, even as mundane as our life may seem.  : )

Much Love,
Mary
