Insomniac Almanac

It seems to me that I should create another journal called Insomniac Almanac which would consist of entries made in the middle of the night when I ought to be sleeping.

I went to bed early, about 10:30, because I could no longer sit in this darned wheel chair.  There was a baseball game, interesting late nite shows, and a couple of DVDs to watch, but I couldn't SIT any longer.

So by three am I am rested and my mind starts on a litany of plans, memories, and inventories of aches and pains.  I call these the "tapes" because they run over and over. Sometimes it helps to get up and write.  Having written, I can usually get back and snooze some more.

And some of my best entries have been made in the middle of the night.  So, perhaps, a journal made up entirely of early morning ramblings and snippits from my "tapes" would be interesting.

And maybe not, and like this one, simply self-serving narcissistic sleep inducers.

Well, back to bed and see if it has worked.

Chuck, 3:13 AM

Boy did this entry hit the nail on the head Chuck. I have not slept a wink and only because I drank Dr. Pepper before bedtime. My entries late at night tend to be very silly. Tonight it was about stuffed animals because we recieved a package from John's sister in Alaska with a little stuffed moose in it. lol Thank goodness for journaling. Paula

Well, if you do it will give me something to read in the early am when this lad can't sleep! Have a great day!

"Insomniac Almanac"?  Great title.  Good idea. I like it.  As a fellow insomniac, I would certainly read it.

I love that title. I think that is an awesome idea. I use to stay up all night making journal entries but I worked swing shift and could sleep in. Now I have to get up at 5:34AM so no more of that but I did some of my best entries in those wee hours I say go for it and we will all love it.

Sounds like a great idea!!  I hate being up in the middle of night, espeically if I can't sleep but have to be somewhere first thing in the morning.... and I do understand why you call them 'tapes'....

I hope it worked... let us know. maybe you need a new pad for your wheel chair? or two so you have one to change when the other one gets uncomfortable... Sandra

It must have been in the star alignment or something.  I had a bad night last night too.  First my C-Pap wouldn't work properly, then I got muscle spasms.  Finally started to sleep when a picture fell off the wall!  Nutz!  Got to sleep sometime after that.

It seems as though almost all my entries are written when I should be sleeping.  Heck, if I didn't have trouble sleeping, I probably wouldn't have a journal.  I don't know whether thats a good thing or a bad one.... =)    Tina

The amazing thing about this interchange of thoughts on the Net thru the journals is that one persons writing gives another person something to add to.    We are people that would have never had any interaction directly until this advancement of civilization.   I enjoyed your encouragement to me for working on my art as well as my building addition.   The new medication I am taking is giving me hope to get back to sitting in front of my easel without being forced to lay on the board that has been my only relief from pain.   I have been making mistake after mistake  on getting the trim on my building to meet up at 45 degree corners, but each time I learn something about doing it right the next time.   I watched the carpenter I hired do things the correct way and then he would do things the wrong way and be intolerant when I would point them out to him.    He was given an advance of money and has never been back to work it off.    Now I have more confidence to do the things right and get someone just to help do the lifting without any carpenter experience.    I like doing things the best they can be done even if it takes me many times longer than it should.    So maybe my thesis is here that it is not the quantity of work done but the quality that counts.
