Twisting History

In the early years of the United States, they added a star AND a stripe to the flag for each new state.

What would the flag look like if they had continued that practice up to the present?

(PS:. ooops... my flag has 51 stripes and 46 stars.  However, I'll bet you don't know, without looking, how many rows of how many stars there actually are.

The answer is five rows of six and four rows of five, to make fifty. Drag your cursor over the blanks to see the answer.)

it would have been an interesting design; got to say I like the way our flag looks now. Something to think about though

I guess we still do add a star for each state, but we've not added a state in about 47 years, give or take months.....  I don't like the mini-stripes... hurts my eyes!  hehe...

It'a an interesting design--I rather like it.  But I also like the official one, combining history and more current events.  Thirteen stripes for the original thirteen colonies and the appropriate number of stars for the expanding republic.

I always enjoy reading something not before known to me about history of the United States.   You should visit Gravydogg55 who's name is SAM, he was present at the surrend of Japan that was the original surrender.   The one on film on the ship was filmed afterwards for the public.    mark
