If there is no parade within reach...

                      

...stand up and salute.  And if you wear red, white and blue shorts, and a shirt that says "proud to be an American DAD" so much the better.

   Now off in my scooter to make an American Patrol around the air conditioned halls of the old folks home.

   Drum roll, please.

That get-up reminds me of an old WWI vet they used to trot out for the parades when I was a youngster. He suffered, sadly enough, from dementia and a powerful thirst, if you catch my drift. One year, he celebrated before the rest of us and wandered off, seeking a quiet vale for a constitutional. Scared the bejeesus out of Mrs. O'Malley when she went out to her garden to pick some peas for dinner to find him buck naked, squatting on her carrot row!

That was the last parade he came to...
