All the almond trees in Merced County, CA, started blooming at the same time. The old folks from our home climbed aboard the bus and took a two hour tour of the groves, just to view the blooms.
There were mles and miles of almond groves. More of the almonds you have eaten have come from Merced County than from anywhere else.
We stopped and a few people got out to pose with the flowers.
Almond Blossoms make our Activity Director sing and dance.

they make me want to sing and dance too. I didn't have a clue where almonds came from... thanks. we have pretty little almond bushes here but no almonds just pretty pink blossoms. and they are far from blooming.

How very pretty. We have lots of pecan trees in our area but never known or seen an almond tree in out area. I once knew a lady who had an alvacado tree in her yard and we never see those either. It was quite a show piece when it was loaded with alvacados. Paula
Actually I think TRAIL MIX must come from here too...
We grow the raisins too! Soon you'll have to take pics of the grapevines as they sprout leaves and fruit.
Since the first Ghiradelli chocolate factory was here in the foothills, I bet they even started putting the chocolate bits into the trail mix...tee hee.

I love that first picture. We drove by a pecan grove today, still stark and bare, and someone with me asked whether the trees were dead.

Most of the almonds I have eaten have come from Kibbutz Yisrael and Kibbutz Netiv Halamed Heh.
