An Atheist on the Power of Prayer

When I posted my entry, Bittersweet, in my journal, I received as many as eight comments before I could even sign off, and even more since. That was amazing to me and several responders said they were praying for me.

If you have read many of my entries you know I am a non-believer in anything supernatural.

AND YET, since I posted Bittersweet and many of you have said you were praying for me, I have not needed a pain pill.  Not one Tylenol or aspirin.

Thank you sincerely. Your Faith has shaken my Non-faith.

Thank you God That Chuck is not in pain and thank you God also that his Non Faith has been shaken. My God is real Chuck, I can feel his care and closeness in my heart. He has taken many a journey right beside me. Some of those journeys have been very close to the valley of death. He has seen me through them. Helen

I am not a big believer in the power of prayer myself, but I am a believer in the many powers of humankind.  I think concern, attention & love can be very healing.  When I send good vibes out to you, I feel pretty good myself.  Great deal alround :-). ~Mary

I come by way of Mary Chuck.  I'm so glad I did too.  I have read back on a few of your entries and I have found a lovely man with a wonderful sense of humour.  Even though he is in pain.  Bless you!
I shall put you on alerts and hope that your hands get better enough to keep you typing out your entries.  You are quite a colourful character, aren't you? You are surrounded by many more made from the same cloth, if reading your recent entries has anything to go by.
Hope your stomach pain leaves you alone indefinitely.  I believe in prayer and will say one for you.  It can't hurt to try.  Stay well and happy.

As you know, I have my own issues about the supernatural. However, I know when there are people out there 'pulling' for us to be our best, no matter what that might be, it sure does help us to feel better!!

I'm so sorry I'm late with my comments, Chuck... I've been out of town.. again....

Much to say. First off I loved the pictures of your mom, is the one of you when you were a little man? your Bittersweet entry is very true and I think it shows you lived a full life. For me I want the good & bad, it's makes us well rounded.
I did not know you had cancer. I am sorry your in so much pain.  I really love your entries as I have weeks before I chose you for guest editor pick.
Oh and them scrabble games, I bet many kids can beat those older then them now, it's amazing what they know!
