American Idol

I make it a point NOT to watch American Idol, I have two reasons. (1) I don't like the melody-less tunes they choose to sing, and (2) they are trying to create an idol.  Idols earn their idol-ness by years of entertaining, like, say, Bob Hope or Bing Crosby, not six weeks on one network show.

But Idol was on while I was doing something else and it caught my attention, AND they were good.  I just thought I ought to give credit to the young artists since I didn't give them their due before.

I admit, I got hoooked this year. First ever.  I was saddened to hear that most already have record deals in line.  I also believe that this is why there are RARE Bob Hope and Bing Crosbys these days, because stars now fade faster then the clothing fads.
Have a great day ;)

This week they sang Andrew Lloyd Weber songs. I missed it. I had to work. Andrew Lloyd Weber is more tuneful than some of the other crap they've sang. The thing with this show is that you begin to know some of the contestants. That tends to color one's choice as to who should stay and who should go, and sometimes the wrong person is sent packing.
